THUNDER BAY — Festival of India and Festival of Colours will celebrate 15 years during this weekend's activities.
Prashant Jani is the organizer and he is excited to see the growth over the years.
"This is the 15th year. We started with 60 people for the first year and last year we had about 7,000 people — so the festivals have grown. We are celebrating a milestone this week."
He's proud to have some new participants coming to Thunder Bay for this year's festivals.
"We have upgraded our chariot. It's an 18-foot-high chariot, beautifully decorated with balloons, and people manually pull the chariot around Marina Park. The parade starts at 3 p.m. and we have singers coming from Toronto and from Los Angeles."
There will also be chefs coming from Winnipeg to cook a variety of different meals for the festival.
Details about the Festival of India and the Festival of Colours can be found in the links.
Festival of India will start at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Festival of Colours will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Both will be held at Marina Park.
