THUNDER BAY — It will be a weekend filled with delicious food, music, and Indian culture at Marina Park.
The Festival of Colours is poised to take over the lawn at the waterfront with its two-day event, starting on Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Festival of India.
This event kicks off with an opening ceremony followed by performances from dance groups that have travelled from across North America to be in Thunder Bay for the festival.
With free food for all attendees, festival organizer Prashant Jani is expecting over 7,000 people to visit Marina Park over the course of the weekend.
More Indian snacks to purchase, Henna tattoos will be available, as well as lots of activities for kids to do, and attendees can take advantage of the Indian Bazaar will also be there with booths selling food, jewellery, clothing and more.
On the second day, the Festival of Colours starts at 3 p.m. and does require a ticket for entry.
It's going to be a "very interactive and colourful experience," Jani said. "Every half an hour [to] 40 minutes, we'll have colour throws at the festival and in between, there will be interactive dances."
Jani added that the festival showcases his culture and brings the community in to learn more.
"This is the event which brings the whole community together, sharing, love, culture, food, music and dances," Jani said.
