THUNDER BAY -- A quick thinking employee was able to extinguish a fire on Saturday evening at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre's emergency department.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, in a release issued on Saturday night, said they arrived at the ER at about 6 p.m to find the fire already extinguished. One person, who was seeking treatment at the hospital, was injured in the fire.

The fire, which was put out using a portable extinguisher, is under investigation.

TBFR said positive pressure blowers were used to remove smoke from the affected areas.

Four pumpers and a platoon chief responded.
