THUNDER BAY - A structural fire in a rural neighbourhood late Saturday afternoon caused heavy damage to a home, but resulted in no serious injuries.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews responded to a reported garage fire on Rosslyn Road at approximately 3 p.m., arriving to find a large column of smoke and flames the department said could be seen twenty feet above the rooftop.
Crews deployed multiple attack lines on the fire, but were unable to prevent it from spreading to a nearby house, which sustained heavy damage.
TBFR reported no civilian injuries as a result of the fire.
The incident resulted in the temporary closure of Rosslyn Road at the corner of R S Piper Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, TBFR said in a statement Saturday night.
