Fire damages exterior of Hester Street home

Passerby alerted 911 and the residences after spotting the fire on Sunday afternoon.

THUNDER BAY -- Residents of a Hester Street home safely evacuated after a fire broke out at their north-side residence.

According to a release, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews were called to a report of a structural fire at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, alerted by a passerby who spotted the fired and reported it to those inside the home.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported the outside of the house was on fire. The flames were quickly brought under control and the fire was prevented from extending to other areas of the building.

Six pumpers. two aerial ladders and a command unit responded to the alarm.
