THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is reminding residents to empty lint traps in dryers after responding to a fire early Saturday morning.

A unit first arrived at a structural fire on MacDougall Street around 1:30 a.m., and initiated a second alarm after finding visible smoke in the home.

Responders found clothes smoldering in a dryer in the home, and quickly extinguished fire that had spread to an adjacent utility room.

In total, five pumpers and two aerial ladders were dispatched to the scene.
