Fire destroyed trailers at Lac des Mille Lacs

Upsala volunteer firefighters responded to the alarm and prevented the fire from spreading.

THUNDER BAY — The cause of a fire that demolished two construction trailers and their contents at Lac des Mille Lacs will likely never be known.

The blaze broke out Friday night at Shacks Landing, a popular access point to the lake for anglers.

Nobody was injured.

Upsala volunteer firefighters responded to the alarm and were able to prevent the flames from spreading, but both ATCO trailers are total losses.

Tools and various supplies owned by the business were also destroyed.

A spokesperson for Shacks Landing said the units had electric heaters and battery chargers, but it's unknown how the fire started.

On social media, the managers of the property expressed thanks to everyone who pitched in to prevent the damage from being any worse than it was.

"We really appreciate everything you did to help us," they said in a post.

Shacks Landing remains open for business.
