THUNDER BAY — A Shabaqua-area couple lost their home in a weekend fire.
No one was in the residence when a blaze broke out Saturday at a property on Goldie Road.
Neighbours reportedly spotted smoke coming from the house and called in the alarm, but the fire advanced quickly, and the house was destroyed.
Ontario Provincial Police said the Conmee and Shebandowan fire departments were both on the scene.
There is no word so far on the fire's cause.
A fundraising campaign may be established to help the couple recover from the devastating loss, but no arrangements have been completed yet.
