THUNDER BAY - An evening fire gutted a south side home Wednesday.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of flames at a Victor Street home at 6:40 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find visible flames at the back of the single story structure.
Witnesses said they saw trees in the back yard glowing, and first thinking it was a bonfire, soon realized they were coming from the house and called 911.
A witness added the owner of the house was out walking their dog when the fire started and the house was believed to be empty at the time.
Six fire rescue units responded to the fire and the flames were suppressed shortly after 7:15 p.m.
This is a developing story and will be updated when details become available.
