A Thunder Bay family got a scare this afternoon when a fire, possibly started by arson, broke out in their backyard.
Shortly before 3 p.m., a passerby noticed black smoke coming from the yard of this Sequoia Crescent residence and alerted the woman and her two children inside the home. Fire officials say two youths were seen running from the yard shortly after the fire broke out.
Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and contained the small blaze with minimal damage to the home's exterior.
Several garbage bags appear to have been lit on fire in the backyard, and fire officials continue to investigate.
No one was hurt.
