THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Professional Firefighter’s Association will be helping out at Boston Pizza to help raise money for the annual Toys for Tots campaign.

Normally Firefighters help wait tables as they collect donations but due to the ongoing pandemic and not wanting to over crowd the dining areas, they will serve as greeters and interact with patrons at the door on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Boston Pizza has also announced that they will match all donations made on Nov. 8 during the firefighters’ visit up to $2,500.00.

This is the 13th year that Boston Pizza has partnered with the Thunder Bay Professional Firefighter’s Association to help raise funds for Toys for Tots.

“It started 13 years ago with a friend of mine who was a firefighter at the time, John Doughty, suggested ‘why don’t we get together and put a plan in place to raise money for Toys for Tots’, and we did and it’s been going on since.”

“And our staff love it. It’s something different for them. It’s fun for the holiday season and Christmas time is all about the kids, right? So if we can raise money for the kids, it’s a soft spot for everybody.”

Firefighters will be at both Thunder Bay Boston Pizza locations (Memorial ave. and Arthur st.) over lunch from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and over dinner from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
