THUNDER BAY — There were no victims in a fire that broke out on Tuesday morning in the 200 block of South Franklin Street.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a fire at the same house last month, where it sustained extensive damage.
District Chief William Falshaw attended both fires at the Franklin Street residence.
“We are having a restoration company secure the building. I believe that the property owner doesn't live in Thunder Bay and it is vacant. The services have been disconnected to it. For the time being until the investigation is done, it'll be secured,” Falshaw said in an interview.
Falshaw said there was a report of an individual having left the building when firefighters arrived on scene, but they were not able to speak with them.
On Tuesday, the initial arriving unit found fire on the main floor, he said.
"Fire fighters entered the smoke-filled home with a hose line and were able to quickly extinguish a contents fire on the main floor. Subsequent arriving apparatus assisted with water supply.
Ventilation was performed to remove smoke, and the building has been boarded to ensure public safety," according to a media release issued by the fire department.
