The city’s first baby of 2014 arrived just before noon on New Year’s Day.

Proud parents Siobhan Mamakwa and Loyal McKay of Eabametoong First Nation welcomed seven-pound, three-ounce daughter Nevaeh Ellieanna Victoria Mamakwa into their family.

It was the couple’s first child.

To celebrate her arrival, Nevaeah will be made an honourary member of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre’s First Marks Club and will have her name and birth date inscribed on a baby-sized footprint and permanently added to the hospital maternity ward’s celebration of life wall.
