First baby of 2023 a boy

Bowtig Beardy was born at 1:04 a.m. on Jan. 1.

THUNDER BAY -- The first baby of the year is a bouncing baby boy. 

Bowtig Beardy was born to mother Kaya Beardy on Sunday at 1:04 a.m. The city's newest resident weighed in at eight pounds. 

Mother and baby are both doing well, according to a brief release issued on Monday by Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
