NEEBING — The first-ever fish derby jointly staged by the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority and the Municipality of Neebing is set to go on Aug. 24.

The Little Trout Bay event on Lake Superior is to offer 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes of $1,000, $600, and $400, respectively, a LRCA bulletin said on Thursday.

Anglers are to submit their best-of-five fish in the following species only: lake trout, whitefish, and salmon, the bulletins said.

"Other species will not be included," it said.

The entry fee, which must be paid in cash, is $120 for two anglers. The derby is to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fees can be paid in person at the event or at the following Thunder Bay outlets: LRCA's administrative office on Conservation Road, D&R Sporting Goods, Woody's Marine and RV and Mighty Mitch & Jungle Joe's Jig Flies.
