Five arrested on drug-trafficking charges

Three Toronto residents are among the accused, including a 17-year-old youth.

THUNDER BAY — Police have taken five individuals into custody, including a 17 year old from Toronto, on drug-trafficking charges.

The Thunder Bay Police Service says it executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Picton Avenue on Thursday, Oct. 17.

One male suspect tried to flee the home through a window but was arrested after a brief pursuit.

Officers seized quantities of suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl and hydromorphone, along with cash and paraphernalia consistent with trafficking.

Besides the youth, the accused include a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both from Toronto, and two women from Thunder Bay, aged 35 and 43.

All five also face charges of possession of property obtained by crime.

The 17-year-old youth is additionally charged with obstructing police, while the 19-year-old is charged with resisting arrest.

The accused appeared in court and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
