THUNDER BAY – Five local Shopper’s Drug Mart locations held ribbon cutting ceremonies on Saturday in celebration of their enhanced store openings.
The stores, which now feature a new food section which includes fresh fruit, meat, ready to eat salads and more, say that the enhancement is meant as a way to support the health and wellness needs of the region.
Vali Orchard, pharmacist owner, Shopper’s Drug Mart – McIntyre Centre, says that the new section makes for a convenient and healthy option for customers.
“More of a one stop shop,” she said. “So, if you're busy like most people are nowadays, running with the kids, picking up your prescription and oh, I need apples, I need oranges, I need something for supper tonight, because I didn't take anything out this morning before I left the house. It's going to be great.
In honor of the opening Shoppers Drug Mart, associate owners are also making a regional donation of $10,000 to Second Harvest, a Canadian food rescue charity.
