THUNDER BAY — Five people have been charged with numerous offences and hundreds of grams of cocaine and methamphetamine were seized following an investigation into drug trafficking throughout the region, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
On Wednesday, multiple police units, including the OPP’s Thunder Bay community street crime unit, Thunder Bay police’s emergency task unit, the OPP K9 unit, and the multi-agency repeat offender parole enforcement (or ROPE) squad searched a local residence, and seized cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, weigh scales, and money, and arrested three people, police said.
Later that day, according to the OPP, the ROPE squad stopped a vehicle and arrested the driver and passenger. Police added that they also found cocaine, money, and a magazine for a pistol.
And finally, OPP said that the following day, multiple police units used another search warrant at a Thunder Bay home, and found crystal methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, and a pair of rifles.
A 22 year-old man from Thunder Bay has been charged with a litany of offences, including multiple weapons charges, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine, and possessing property obtained by crime. Another 22 year-old man from Atikokan faces charges of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, having a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of property obtained by crime.
A 44 year-old Calgary man faces charges of possessing cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to comply with a court order.
And finally, two Thunder Bay women—one 38 and one 64—have been charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possessing property obtained by crime.
All five were taken into custody, police said, with future bail court hearings.
