A trail of evidence – including an opened bar door, packsack and photo identification – led police officers to a would-be suspected robber’s hiding spot early Monday morning.
Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service say they discovered that the rear door of a South Cumberland Street bar had been left open. Investigating officers responded to the bar after an alarm was triggered around 12:30 a.m.
Once inside, officers found a packsack. Inside the packsack was photo identification, which belonged to the suspected robber.
Police say they brought in the canine unit to help search the bar. Canine unit officer Thunder found a suspect hiding under a sink.
Officers also found a hunting knife next to the male suspect.
Police arrested the 28-year-old man, who now faces charges of breaking and entering, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing break-in tools. He is expected to appear in video court Monday morning.
