Forester hat trick powers North Stars to win

Kam River and Dryden continued their winning ways with Saturday night triumphs.

THUNDER BAY – Peter Forester scored a hat trick to lead the Thunder Bay North Stars past the Red Lake Miners.

Forester scored in all three periods on Saturday night and the North Stars scored the game’s final six goals, on their way to a 9-2 triumph at Fort William Gardens.

Jarred Feist had two goals and two assists for Thunder Bay, (30-12-5) who jumped into a third-place tie with the Sioux Lookout Bombers, with a game in hand.

Matthew Lysak, Evan Simeoni, Connor Larett and Acoyen Fehr also scored for the North Stars.

Corbyn Demchuk and Ryan Heuser had the Red Lake goals.

Liam Letters earned the win in nets, making 29 saves. Koen Webber took the loss, stopping just 20 of 29 Thunder Bay shots.

Kam River 2, Sioux Lookout 1: Sam Keene made 29 saves to lead the Fighting Walleye to victory. Daxton Lang and Jett Mintenko scored second-period goals for Kam River. Owen Cotter spoiled Keene’s shutout bid, scoring with 3:38 to play in regulation.

Dryden 6, Fort Frances 1: The Ice Dogs scored six straight, two in each period, to prevail over the Lakers. Elias Eisenbarth had a pair for Dryden. Tie Shumacher had the Fort Frances tally.
