Fort Frances gets $3M to reconstruct section of Scott Street

Province spending $30 million in 23 communities to make roads safer.

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Two Northwestern Ontario communities are getting help from the provincial government to preserve their infrastructure.

The province on Thursday announced it will spend $3 million in Fort Frances for the reconstruction of Scott Street from Colonization Road East to Reid Avenue.

The town will also get $116,000 for detailed design for the reconstruction of another portion of Scott Street, from Pit Road No. 1 to Oakwood Road in Fort Frances.

Dryden is getting $112,000 for detailed design for signalized intersection studies and replacement.

The money is part of a $30 million Connecting Links Funding by Municipality program that will see 23 communities benefit in 2019-20 to improve road safety.

The town of Wawa is getting $3 million for Highway 101 reconstruction.

Other communities at the $3-million mark include Windsor, Norfolk County, South Bruce Peninsula and Sault Ste. Marie.
