THUNDER BAY -- People living in Thunder Bay may escape the worst of the coming freezing rain.

Environment Canada, in a freezing rain warning issued on Christmas Day, said those living on higher terrain, in places like Intola, Wild Goose and Stepstone could see between five and 10 millimetres of freezing rain, though the precipitation is likelier to stay as rain in Thunder Bay.

The rain is expected to start overnight on Monday and last through Tuesday. Highway, roads and walkways could become slippery and signifiicant ice build-up could occur.
