THUNDER BAY – Before Sunday, Grace Dosen hadn’t gotten up close and personal with barnyard animals.
Now she can say she has held a baby chick in the palm of her hand.
Grace was one of many children enjoying a spring afternoon at Fort William Historical Park for their Spring on the Farm day.
They enjoyed meeting with freshly hatched chicks that were so young they had to either remain under a heat lamp or
“There was lots for the kids to do,” her mom Laura said.
Many of the children spent time in the petting zoo area with friendly lambs, goats and a pig.

That’s where Riley Burton and his young son Cameron were interacting with the animals.
It was their first trip to Spring on the Farm and it exceeded his expectations.
“I think Fort William Historical Park is doing a great job attracting the local groups and I think they’ve strategized on and it’s events like this that bring us out here,” Burton said.
In addition to the animals, those in attendance braving the wet conditions could try traditional farm chores such as churning butter and planting seeds or playing in the straw pile.
