THUNDER BAY – Record high gas prices have arrived in Thunder Bay for the second time in just a few months.
A number of stations in the city have jacked prices at the pump to $1.599 for a litre of regular unleaded fuel, while others come in once cent less expensive at $1.589.
The previous record high for the city was $1.549, a figure reached late last year. Prior to that, the record was $1.489.
Several stations have yet to increase their prices, with several stations on Arthur Street sticking to $1.509 per litre.
Simply Gas, on East Avenue, continues to have the lowest price in the city, at $1.489, which THP Variety and Gas Bar on Fort William First Nation is the lowest price in the area, with a litre of regular unleaded going to $1.277.
The Ontario average, according to OntarioGasPrices.com, is $1.477.
The Petro-Canada in Ignace, at $1.649 a litre, is the second highest price in the province, behind the $1.67 being charged at an Esso station in Craigleith, Ont.
