Glance at Crime: Police investigate 20 break and enters, three sexual assaults

THUNDER BAY – City police responded to more than 160 criminal incidents during the week of Monday, Feb. 29 through Sunday, March 6.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available throughcrimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

This week’s report shows police had their hands full with 20 reported break and enters and three sexual assault cases. City police also dealt with about 19 assaults throughout the week.

The more than 160 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

South of the Harbour Expressway, city police responded to 89 reported crimes. Some of the more serious incidents included:

• 9 Assaults
• 14 Break and enter
• 12 Thefts
• 2 sexual assaults
• 2 Thefts from vehicles
• 2 Thefts of vehicles
• 1 weapons charge

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway, officers responded to more than 71 criminal reports.

Some of the more serious incidents reported include:

• 10 Assaults
• 6 Break and enters
• 2 Robbery
• 1 Sexual assault
• 11 Thefts
• 2 Theft from vehicles
• 1 Theft of vehicles
• 2 Weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
