Natural Resources Minister and area MPP Michael Gravelle on Wednesday defended the province's actions leading up to the closure of the Global Sticks plant outside of Thunder Bay.
In Queen’s Park, Progressive Conservative MPP Norm Miller said the McGuinty-led provincial government boasted about creating jobs when the stick factory opened in May.
But he said the province has also been creating problems for the plant, and added that its closure was due to "death by a thousand cuts."
On Monday, Global Sticks president Reggie Nukovic said he hoped to secure $2 million in new financing, and have the plant re-opened before Christmas.
