Grant scores double-double in runaway win

SAULT STE MARIE, Ont. – Leashja Grant put up a fifth-straight double-double on Friday night as the Lakehead Thunderwolves trounced the Algoma Thunderbirds 77-41 on Friday night.

The Bahamian import scored 22 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds in the triumph, which improved LU’s record to 4-1 on the season.

Bridget O’Reilly also hit double digits for the Wolves, with 10 points, hauling in nine rebounds. Guards Rachel Webber and Tiffany Reynolds had nine points apiece. Karina Cole and Sydney Resch topped the Thunderbirds with 14 apiece.

The win vaulted LU into a share of top spot in the OUA West, tied with Windsor, who fell 70-46 to Carleton.

Lakehead and Algoma will hook up again on Saturday night.
