THUNDER BAY — Hansang brand frozen fish cakes have issued recall warnings across Canada.
This recall follows the products possibly containing egg without declaring it on the label.
Among the products being recalled were Assorted Fish Cake with Katsuobushi Soup Stock, Frozen Fried Fish Cake, Frozen Fried Fish Cake and Rice Cake and Mala Flavour Frozen Fried Fish Cake.
As of Saturday, no reactions were reported to be associated with the consumption of these frozen fish cakes.
However, the Public Health Agency of Canada warns the public not to serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled frozen fish cakes.
It also noted that the public should return the recalled products to where they were purchased or throw them out for safety.
Those allergic or sensitive to eggs are urged not to consume the recalled products, as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.
The recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results and a food safety investigation is being conducted, which may lead to the recall of other products.
Residents seeking more information on the recalled frozen fish cakes are encouraged to consult the recall notice on the Government of Canada Recalls and Safety Alerts website.
The public health notice will be updated as the investigation evolves.
