The intersection will be closed for one day to switch to the upgraded traffic lighting system.

THUNDER BAY — The city will close the intersection of Memorial Avenue and Harbour Expressway on Tuesday, July 23, to allow a switchover to newly installed traffic signals.

The intersection will be closed to all traffic except vehicles going north and south making right turns onto the Harbour Expressway.

The closure is expected to last from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

In a release, the city said the switchover to new traffic lights is one of the final steps in a rehabilitation project to rebuild the existing traffic signals and associated underground infrastructure, which had reached end-of-life.

Following this, work will continue on repaving the intersection and completing concrete work.
