Health Unit announces 29 COVID-19 cases

Four more cases have been confirmed at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

THUNDER BAY – Twenty-nine new cases of COVID-19 have been announced by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, bringing the active number of cases to a record high 186.

There have now been 952 cases confirmed by the health unit since the first case was announced on March 27, 2020.

Four of the cases are related to an outbreak at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre. Eight are considered close contacts, five are no known exposure and a dozen still pending. 

Nineteen of the cases are considered to reside in Thunder Bay and surrounding area, while three are in district communities and seven are in First Nation communities. 

Thirteen cases are considered resolved since Thursday. There were no new deaths.
