The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is losing its acting medical officer of health.
The Health Unit announced Tuesday afternoon that Dr. Henry Kurban would be resigning from his position effective July 1, 2011. Personal and family circumstances were cited as reasons for the resignation.
The Board of Health will now begin the recruitment process to fill the vacancy that will be left by Kurban.
"The Board is disappointed to be losing Dr. Kurban at this time," Maria Harding, Chair of the Board of Health, said in a Health Unit news release. "But we are optimistic about the many recent positive organizational initiatives he has undertaken and we are looking forward to building on this foundation over the months and years to come."
