Federal government and Bell Canada will invest over $5 million
internet 2016

Residents of half a dozen rural communities in the districts of Rainy River and Kenora can look forward to improved internet service.

The federal government will provide funding of up to $4 million toward a new fibre optic system serving Stratton, Minahico, Madsen, the Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation, the Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing, and Kejick (Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent First Nation).

Bell Canada will invest about $1.3 million in the infrastructure needed to provide higher-speed internet and greater data capacity in each community.

The federal funding falls under a government program aimed at improving internet service in remote and underserved areas.
