THUNDER BAY — Highway 11/17 reopened in both directions between Thunder Bay and Nipigon early Thursday morning after a multi-vehicle collision forced the closure of part of the highway on Wednesday afternoon.
Ontario Provincial Police said the collision was reported around 1:20 p.m. and involved a transport truck and several other vehicles at a location near the East Loon Road in the Municipality of Shuniah.
At least one of the vehicles caught fire.
The highway initially was fully blocked between Pearl and the junction with Highway 587, but was later extended west to the Highway 527 junction.
