KENORA, Ont. — Poor driving conditions forced the closure of a long stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway in Northwestern Ontario on Tuesday.
According to the provincial government website Ontario511, Highway 17 was closed in both directions between Ignace and Kenora because of weather conditions.
The closure was subsequently extended to the Ontario-Manitoba border.
Photos from Ministry of Transportation cameras along the route showed the road covered with snow.
There was no indication how long the closure would last.
Motorists were advised to check Ontario511 for updates.
