Holidays will affect hours at the John Street landfill

Facility will be closed for three days, starting on Christmas Eve, and two more, starting on New Year's Eve.

THUNDER BAY – That last-minute pre-Christmas trip to the landfill may have to wait.

City officials on Thursday announced the John Street Solid Waste and Recycling Facility will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The site, which will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will reopen next Wednesday, closing again on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
