THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation is launching a campaign to raise $44,000 in 24 hours to fund vital equipment on Giving Tuesday.
Raising that money would complete a second paediatric transfer deck for the Paediatric Emergency Transport Team; the equipment is essential for transporting critically-ill children safely.
The transfer deck will enable the team to respond quickly to ensure children receive timely care; it's particularly important in remote and underserved areas where access to specialized care is limited.
“Our community has been incredibly generous on Giving Tuesday year after year,” says Lindsay Doran-Bonk, manager of digital engagement for the foundation, iln a news release. “We’re so grateful for the continued support that helps us provide life-saving equipment and services for our hospital. This year, we’re especially excited because all donations for the paediatric transfer deck equipment will be matched by the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, so your support goes even further in helping our hospital's littlest patients.”
Giving Tuesday is a global 24-hour fundraising event, which marks the official start of the giving season, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Donations for Giving Tuesday will be accepted starting at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The public can donate online, by phone between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (807-345-4673), by texting ‘vital’ to 20222 for a $10 donation, or visiting the hospital next to the Grand Christmas Tree in the lobby.
