THUNDER BAY -- For the second straight December, the Thunder Bay 50/50 jackpot has topped $2 million -- three days ahead of last year's pace.

The draw, which supports the efforts of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, will be held on Friday at 11 a.m.

Last year's December jackpot was $2.34 million and marked the only other time the top 50/50 prize was more than $1 million. The hospital foundation in 2022 guaranteed a $1-million jackpot prize, and soared past it early in the month.

Tickets for the draw are available online at www.thunderbay5050.ca, or at the foundation's pop-up shop adjacent to the food court at Intercity Shopping Centre. Money raised will be used to help fund a planned multi-staged improvement to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre's emergency department, Past 50/50 takes have been used to buy new and replacement equipment throughout the hospital.

A $25,000 early-bird draw, scheduled for Wednesday, is also up for grabs. Ticketholders who have purchased their tickets by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday are eligible for that draw.
