THUNDER BAY – The reshaping of senior leadership at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and its research institute continues.
A year into her tenure as CEO, Rhonda Crocker-Ellacott has eliminated two more positions as well as swapping out the hospital’s chief of staff.
It follows in the footsteps of another shake-up earlier this year that led to the departure of Dr. Stewart Kennedy, the hospital’s COVID-19 lead throughout much of the early stages of the pandemic, and other senior team members.
Dr. Peter Voros took over that role this past March, only to find himself on the outside looking in last week.
Voros is no longer the hospital’s COVID-19 incident manager or its executive vice-president of patient care and cancer services.
The hospital is also parting ways with another senior executive, Kelly Meservia-Collins, executive vice-president of research, quality and academics, according to an internal email obtained by TBNewswatch.
Former chief of staff Dr. Zaki Ahmed will be replaced by Dr. Bradley Jacobson.
In a statement issued on Monday, hospital officials say they needed to change some positions and skill sets as part of a new strategic plan, the goal to create a smaller, more focused senior leadership team, with the savings being put toward front-line services.
The hospital statement indicates much of the change has been done through attrition.
