Human remains found in Dryden identified

Human remains found in Dryden have been identified as a man who was reported missing on Jan. 12.

DRYDEN -- Human remains discovered in a vacant unit in Hillcrest Trailer Park on Monday have been identified.

OPP responded to a report they had located human remains on Monday, March 7 in Hillcrest Trailer Park on Third Street.

Police have now confirmed the deceased is Darren BURNARD, 33 of Dryden.

The 33-year-old had been reported missing by family members on Jan. 12, 2022.

A post-mortem will be conducted March 11, 2022 in Toronto to confirm the cause of death.                                                                                         

Police believe there are no concerns for public safety.

The investigation by members of the Dryden OPP and North West Region Crime Unit is continuing, under direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the Forensic Identification Services Unit and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
