Hunter Burger raises $4K for Children's Health Foundation

COVID-19 couldn't stop Beefcakes Burger Factory from keeping its promise of donating to a worthy children's cause.

THUNDER BAY – The Hunter Burger was a hit.

As a result, Beefcakes Burger Factory turned over $4,000 to the Children’s Health Foundation, the proceeds since February when the tasty sandwich went on sale in honour of ambassador Hunter Fernyc.

The initial plan was to sell the burger for a month, but COVID-19 arrived and the promotion was extended throughout the summer and into the fall.

“Beefcake’s Burger Factory is happy to be in the position to create better childhoods for kids and families facing challenges and serious health issues. Thunder Bay’s response to the promotion has been nothing short of extraordinary and we hope to make a tradition of continuing to raise funds and awareness for groups and organizations that help families in Thunder Bay,” said restaurant owner Derek Lankinen in a release issued on Wednesday.

The Children’s Health Foundation services 400 families in the Northwestern Ontario region and the money raise will assist in funding cutting-edge equipment, care-enhancing programs and groundbreaking paediatric research in London at the Thames Valley Children’s Centre and Children’s Health Research Institute.

The Hunter Burger was a double-double patty with double-double cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, bacon and Heartbeat Hot Sauce.
