THUNDER BAY — An incident Monday near a construction site on Huron Avenue forced the closure of both lanes of a section of the busy road near the intersection with Hudson Avenue.

Details are scarce, but a spokesperson for Tbaytel said there was an incident late in the morning that resulted in two utility poles being damaged.

She said crews were still on-site at mid-afternoon working on repairs, but there were no service outages.

The incident happened at the entrance to the site where two apartment buildings are currently under construction for Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services.

The company that's working on the project declined a request for comment.

A spokesperson for the city said at 4:30 p.m.Monday that the road was expected to be reopened shortly.

He said the city was waiting to obtain more information from the contractor about the circumstances of the incident.
