Impaired driving charges laid in three separate incidents

KENORA, Ont. – Three people are facing impaired driving charges following three separate impaired driving incidents on Wednesday.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, police conducted a vehicle stop just before 8 p.m. on Highway 17A after receiving a traffic complaint.

Police spoke with the driver of the vehicle and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The accused was arrested at the scene and transported for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old of Dalles First Nation has been charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

A couple of hours later, police conducted another traffic stop on Lakeview Drive at 10:29 p.m.

Police say upon speaking to the driver, it was determined the driver had consumed alcohol and as a result of the investigation an 18-year-old of Shoal Lake First Nation has been charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Police received a another traffic complaint of a vehicle driving erratically around 10:38 p.m.

The vehicle was located in the downtown core a short time later and police conducted a traffic stop.

It was determined that the driver of the vehicle had consumed alcohol and was arrested at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old of Stanjikoming First Nation has been charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs.

Police want to remind the public that motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don't drink and drive.
