THUNDER BAY -- Two men are facing impaired driving charges after separate early morning collisions.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were called to the Balmoral Street entrance to Lakehead University just after midnight Wednesday morning where they found a black pickup truck that had struck a light pole and spun back on the road.

The 22-year-old driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

Three hours later officers responded to another collision, this one happening on Red River Road at Waverley Street.

That one was described as a “high speed crash,” with a black pickup truck having extensive front end damage after striking a Red River Road guardrail.

The 20-year-old driver is said to be unhurt while one of the three passengers had a minor injury. The driver has been charged with impaired driving.

Both vehicles are being impounded for seven days with each driver’s license suspended for 90 days.
