THUNDER BAY – Two local schools are no longer at increased risk for COVID-19, the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board reported Sunday.

Corpus Christi School and Pope John Paul II Senior Elementary School had each been under heightened surveillance by public health after recent cases.

“No additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified and we have no evidence that spread of the virus occurred in the school setting,” said medical officer of health Dr. Janet DeMille in letters to each school community Saturday.

Cases were reported at both Pope John Paul II and Corpus Christi on Feb. 21.

Local schools moved to virtual learning on March 1, following a recommendation by the health unit after a surge in cases that was increasingly impacting schools.
