THUNDER BAY -- A national bookseller is temporarily closing all of its Canadian locations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indigo on Tuesday announced stores would remain closed through March 27.

"Today, we have made the difficult but appropriate decision to close all our retail locations until March 27th," said Indigo CEO Heather Reisman in a release.

"As this situation continues to evolve, we believe that this temporary shut-down is an opportunity to do our part as members of team Canada to control the spread of COVID-19 and keep our employees, customers and broader community safe."

The company, which operates one store in Thunder Bay, says it will provide full pay to those with scheduled shifts.

Customers can still shop through indigo.ca.
