DRYDEN, Ont. -- The City of Dryden is trying to get things back in order after the sudden departure of their newly hired CAO.
Dryden’s city council has hired a well-known community businessman to do the job in the interim. Dryden GM owner Nick Beyak has been chosen to fill the role for the next year.
He brings more than 13 years of business experience to the job, and has requested to not receive any salary for the additional work.
The new hire comes after Peggy Van-Mierlo West suddenly left the job to pursue another opportunity, spending just six weeks in Dryden.
Council will start looking for a permanent CAO in the next few months once they fill the vacant treasurer position.
But veteran councillor Martin MacKinnon says it's clear that picking someone for the long term has been extremely difficult.
