THUNDER BAY — A scuffle with a partially-clothed man whose body was covered in cooking oil left a Thunder Bay Police officer with a minor injury Sunday night.

An earlier police report about the incident indicated the man was naked, but a news release issued later said he was "half-dressed."

Police said the incident began around 8:40 p.m. in the Cumberland and Pearl Street area, eventually ending at a residence in the Pearl and Court Street areas.

Officers responded to a report of a partially-dressed male wandering into traffic.

Checking on his welfare, they discovered he was intoxicated and reeked of what they believed to be canola oil.

The man fled to a Pearl Street residence and forced his way in, then refused the occupants' requests that he leave.

When police arrived a short time later, he became aggressive and attempted to strike an officer.

The man faces numerous charges including assaulting an officer, forcible entry and violation of a probation order..
