THUNDER BAY — The leader of the federal New Democratic Party is visiting Northwestern Ontario.
Jagmeet Singh is scheduled to travel Monday to Neskantaga First Nation along with Timmins-James Bay NDP MP Charlie Angus and Kiiwetinoong NDP MPP Sol Mamakwa.
The group is meeting with community members who have been under a boil water advisory for 26 years.
Singh will then travel on to Thunder Bay for an evening event accompanied by Mamakwa and Judith Monteith-Farrell, the NDP MPP for Thunder Bay-Atikokan.
They will visit with First Nations forest fire evacuees who have been staying in Thunder Bay
On Monday evening, Singh will visit a sacred fire in memory of First Nations children who died while attending residential schools.
He will also attend a Sharing Circle.
Singh is on a week-long tour of Indigenous communities which will also take him to British Columbia.
