Kacey Yellowhead found deceased

Police have confirmed the body of missing person Kacey Yellowhead was found on Aug. 28 after a nearly month-long search.

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Police have confirmed that the nearly month-long search for 25-year-old Kacey Yellowhead came to a  tragic end.

Following consultation with the coroner's office, police revealed Wednesday that the body found in an area near Duncan and Dock Streets – close to the CPR station and the Kam River – on Aug. 28 was that of the young man.

Yellowhead, from Eabametoong First Nation, was last seen on Aug. 2 and was reported to the TBPS as missing on Aug. 4.

A widespread search that lasted several weeks ended when a caller to 911 reported finding the body of an adult male just after 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Police expressed thanks to the OPP, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, and numerous civilian volunteers who aided the search effort and offered support to Kacey Yellowhead's family.

TBPS said it continues to investigate the circumstances of his death.
