RED LAKE, Ont. -- The Kam River Fighting Walleye will live to see at least one more day.

The regular season Superior International Junior Hockey League regular-season champions still have a tall task ahead of them, but staved off elimination on Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over the Red Lake Miners in Game 4 of the Bill Salonen Cup final.

The Fighting Walleye now trail the best-of-seven series 3-1.

Logan Gallaher's goal at 4:56 of the third proved to be the winner, his first of the playoffs and just his second this season.

Kersey Reich and Ethan Lang, who potted a shorthanded tally 7:45 into the second to give the Fighting Walleye a 2-0 lead, had the other Kam River goals.

Ryan Howe and Ethan Poole replied for Red Lake, who will get a second chance on Thursday night at the Norwest Arena to clinch their first SIJHL championship.

Eric Vanska stopped 37 shots to pick up the win, taking over starting goaltending duties from SIJHL goaltender-of-the-year Austin Madge.

Kiev Kineshanko was good on 20 of 23 shots he faced in front of 460 fans at the Cochenour Arena.
